Smile Design
Based on your natural teeth and specific facial features, Dr. Veal can custom-design a beautiful smile exactly suited to you. We employ a wide array of techniques – including veneers, crowns and onlays – to create a stronger and more aesthetically balanced smile. Then for a finishing touch, we polish off your new look with teeth whitening for a stunning, beautiful new you.
Porcelain Veneers
One of the most dramatic breakthroughs in cosmetic dentistry is the creation of porcelain veneers. Veneers are fine pieces of carefully shaped porcelain that, when bonded to your teeth are natural and beautiful looking. They can be used to close spaces, lighten color, correct contour, properly align your teeth, and restore teeth to their original aesthetic and practical functions. An excellent alternative to crowns, veneers can perfect your smile by masking stains, hiding chips, correcting misalignment, and creating uniformity. In just over the course of a few visits to our office you can obtain a beautiful, white smile with porcelain veneers.
Porcelain veneers are thin covers, made from durable porcelain that slides over teeth to mask cosmetic problems. When we apply porcelain veneers to our patients, we resurface teeth and then use a strong dental bonding agent to firmly secure the porcelain veneers in place.
Porcelain achieves an incredibly lifelike appearance; like tooth enamel, porcelain veneers allow some light to pass through, a property known as “translucency.” When dental veneers look fake it is usually due to the fact that they are non-translucent material.
Bonding
A smile can be dulled by stained, chipped, cracked or misaligned teeth, but bonding can quickly and painlessly restore your smile’s natural beauty. During the procedure, a thin coating of plastic resin is painted over the damaged teeth, strengthening them and making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.
All-Porcelain Crowns
If you have teeth with serious cosmetic and structural problems, all-porcelain crowns may be a good way to restore your smile as well as your ability to enjoy the foods you love. Crowns are lifelike synthetic teeth that can completely cover a problem tooth. They are an excellent option when your teeth still have strong, healthy roots.
We try to preserve as much tooth structure as possible by offering porcelain onlays. Laid on top of the tooth, saving most of the tooth. By minimizing tooth destruction, the tooth for another 15 years. It is necessary for most of the tooth to be covered with porcelain crowns.
Also called caps, porcelain crowns are natural-looking covers that fit snugly over teeth to gddiscomfort and provide support to damaged teeth. Ultimately, crowns can improve the overall appearance of your smile while making your teeth more resistant to injury.
Inlays & Onlays
Similar to fillings, inlays and onlays fill cavities and other areas of trauma or decay in the teeth. They are also called indirect fillings. Unlike regular fillings, however, which are composed of a soft material that is molded into the tooth during the dental visit, indirect fillings are shaped in a dental lab and then firmly cemented into place by the dentist. Inlays fit into a cavity while onlays lay on top of the tooth to build up a damaged cusp. They are generally much more durable and long lasting than regular fillings. By minimizing tooth destruction, we can often save the tooth for another 15 years. If it is necessary for most of the tooth to be covered, we will provide porcelain crowns.
Teeth Whitening
Many of us feel that our smiles are most striking when our teeth look especially white, but unfortunately, soft drinks, coffee, tea and tobacco can leave behind ugly stains. To help you restore your gleaming, bright white smile and to give you an added boost of confidence, our in-office whitening procedures work safely and comfortably during the day or at night while you sleep. Tooth whitening is an easy way to improve your appearance and brighten your smile. You can have beautiful, white teeth and the smile you've always wanted in just a few weeks.
To whiten your teeth, we use the most advanced technology available called Zoom! The process takes about an hour, and the results are dramatic--up to about eight shades whiter. You can go on with your day with a whiter, brighter smile. Zoom! is ideal for anyone wanting immediate results.
How Zoom Works!
The Zoom! light activated gel was developed after years of research by Discus Dental, the leaders in professional take-home tooth whitening. The gel is scientifically formulated, pH balanced Hydrogen Peroxide that, when activated by the Zoom! light, gently penetrates the teeth only to remove deep stains and discoloration, while leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged. With proper care and on occasional touch up at home, your whiter smile will sparkle for years.
For patients willing to wait longer, we offer a take-home whitening system allowing you to brighten your teeth in about three nights. You may go even lighter with additional applications. Start on Friday and by Monday you'll have a whole new smile. For more information, talk to one of our doctors at Veal Dental Care, or visit Zoom! online.
General Dentistry
A beautiful smile isn’t necessarily a healthy one, and healthy, strong teeth are the first step in creating an aesthetically pleasing smile. For our patients a dental implant or other cosmetic dentistry or general dentistry procedure is often the key to gaining the self-confidence that comes from having a smile they can be proud of.

Dental Implants
Missing teeth can present many problems, from the obvious difficulties with biting and chewing, to the gaps left in your smile and the loss of definition in your face that accompanies those gaps. For many patients, a dental implant from Dr. Veal is often the most effective, natural looking way to replace a lost tooth.
A dental implant has two main parts that mimic the structure of an actual tooth. The "anchor" is a piece of titanium that literally anchors the new tooth into your jaw in the same manner as the roots of a natural tooth. At Old Milton Dental, once we have determined the ideal location for a dental implant, we will refer you to an oral surgeon who will implant the anchor. You will then return to our office where Dr. Veal will attach a lifelike porcelain crown to the anchor. This combination of anchor and crown creates an artificial tooth that looks and feels like a normal tooth.
If you are missing one or more teeth, contact our general and cosmetic dentistry practice. Dental implant dentistry is one of our areas of expertise, and we can help you restore your smile and your ability to enjoy the foods you love.
Tooth-Colored Fillings (Mercury-Free Dentistry)
Our goal is to achieve undetectable dentistry. For years, silver mercury was the primary used by dentists to fill cavities. Today, tooth-colored restorations are superior in many ways can restore teeth to their original look and function, and help maintain their strength. Gone are the days when tooth ailments and cavities could only be treated with unsightly metal fillings. Today, modern, tooth-colored fillings made of durable resin or porcelain can be bonded to your teeth for a stronger, more natural-looking effect. After you have a cavity filled at our practice, you may not even be able to tell which tooth had the work done!
We also use a new tool known as "the Wand" to administer anesthetic. This device quickly numbs the target area, and you'll never feel the pinprick of a needle! At our office, cosmetic dentistry, general dentistry, and a dedication to safety and comfort all come together to give you the best possible dental experience.
Endodontic (Root Canal) Therapy
Inside of each of your teeth is a mass of nerves and other tissue called the "pulp." Occasionally, the pulp can become infected, causing pain and tooth decay. Endodontic therapy, also known as a "root canal," is a technique we use to remove the infected pulp and save the tooth, so an extraction is not necessary.
We perform endodontic therapy by drilling through the crown of the tooth, and cleaning out any damaged pulp. We then fill the gap and seal the tooth with a natural-looking porcelain crown.
Tooth Extractions
If a tooth is so badly damaged or decayed that it cannot be saved, we are able to extract the tooth with a minimum of discomfort. We use "the Wand," a highly advanced anesthetic delivery system to ensure that you feel no pain throughout the entire process. We also have a range of different options available for replacing extracted teeth, including dental implants and full and partial dentures.
Dentures and Partials
If you have lost a number of teeth, dentures can provide a good way to restore your ability to eat normally, as well as restoring your smile and the shape of your face. Dentures come in two basic varieties – full and partial.
Full Dentures
Full dentures are a complete set of artificial teeth that slide over your gums. They are custom-fitted and are held on by suction and by the muscles in your cheeks. Full dentures are an excellent option when you have lost all of your teeth.
Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures consist of realistic artificial teeth attached to a metal or plastic structure. The partial attaches to existing teeth with precision clips and fills in gaps or missing teeth in your smile.
TMD Splint Therapy
Dr. Scott Veal works with patients who have problems with the temporomandibular joint, causing pain or headaches. The temporomandibular joint connects the lower jaw, called the mandible, to the temporal bone at the side of the head. Some people feel discomfort or pain with the muscles that control jaw function. Besides pain, other symptoms of TMD include clicking sound of the jaw, limited movement of the jaw, a change in the way the upper and lower teeth fit together, headaches, earaches and dizziness.
We offer splint therapy for our TMD patients. The NTI device can prevent medically diagnosed migraine pain, tension-type headache, and jaw disorders without drugs or surgery. For more information talk to Dr. Scott Veal.
Preventative Dentistry
Preventive measures can do wonders for your dental health. A few simple homecare practices paired with regular visits to your dental professional will go a long way toward maintaining optimal oral health.
Daily preventive procedures share the common goal of removing bacteria from the mouth. If allowed to build-up, bacteria adheres to the teeth, tongue and soft tissue which becomes plaque that over time can mineralize into a hard substance called calculus. Only professional cleanings can remove calculus.
Cleanings and Checkups
We recommend that you come to Veal Dental Care at least once every six months to have your teeth professionally cleaned. We'll also do a thorough exam to make sure that there are no problems brewing
Fluoride Treatments
In addition to routine cleanings, we also offer fluoride treatments to our patients. Fluoride has been proven to strengthen teeth and make them more resistant to decay.
Sealants
To further protect teeth from the causes of tooth decay, we can apply a sealant to them. This material coats teeth, creating a barrier that decay-causing substances cannot penetrate.
Safety and Comfort
At Veal Dental Care our patients come first. That is why, when people come to our office for cosmetic dentistry or general dentistry, we make sure that the procedures they undergo are safe, painless, and as comfortable as possible. To accomplish this, we use the latest, most advanced anesthetics and sterilization methods available.
The Wand
The Wand is a recently-developed tool that makes the delivery of anesthetic much more comfortable for the patient. It consists of a pen-shaped device with a tiny needle on the end. The Wand administers a small drop of anesthetic before the needle even touches your gums, so you won't feel the pinprick sensation that many people have learned to dread.
The Intra-Oral Camera
The intra-oral camera allows Dr. Veal to take high-resolution digital photographs of the inside of your mouth. These photos are immediately transmitted to a computer monitor, where you can see exactly where your procedures will be performed.
Sterilization
We use state-of-the-art antiseptic procedures. Our sterilization procedures meet the Center for Disease Control guidelines. We heat sterilize handpieces and instruments. We use gloves, masks, gowns, eye protection and barrier covers. We use only ADA-approved disinfectants.
